THE BEGINNING

In 1961 Bill Clarkin Sr., working out of a barn in his back yard, sold the first installed aluminum siding job to a central Ohio builder. At that time, an installed siding package did not exist in the Columbus Ohio market. This was the seed that sprouted to be APCO Industries which incorporated in 1962 as The Aluminum Products Company.

THE EARLY DAYS

In 1965, Home Improvements were offered to homeowners. Shortly after, Bill Clarkin Sr., purchased a seamless gutter machine and offered gutter manufactured on site to builders and homeowners.

EXPANSION AND DIVERSIFICATION

In 1972, the company began fabricating custom awnings. The company gained a considerable amount of buying power which led other siding dealers to request materials direct. In 1974, The APCO Wholesale Company began serving dealers and do-it-yourselfers. The Window and Door Division opened its doors in 1976, making APCO a major supplier of exterior building products.

THE INTERNET AGE

In 2002, Bill Clarkin Jr. brought the company into the internet age with apco.com. In 2011, he fully created and developed ReplaceSmart with the intent to offering a no non-sense way to purchase high performance windows at very competitive prices.

OUR VISION

To be a philanthropic, spiritual and financial success by offering our customers a no non-sense way to purchase high performance building products at very competitive prices nationwide.

About ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually lead to their death. When the motor neurons  die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

All ReplaceSmart’s contributions are to the ALS Association in honor and memory of Kevin Capper.
